The parents have filed a police complaint and say CCTV footage shows the assault. They are asking police to secure the recordings quickly, and they worry about the safety of other children at the school.
Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: A couple in Gorakhpur has filed a police complaint against a play school teacher. They allege she slapped their three-year-old son and scratched his head. The boy’s mother says he now cries and screams whenever someone mentions school. Police say they are investigating the allegations.
What the Family Alleges
The incident was reported from Govindpuri Colony. The boy’s father, Atul Singh, gave the police a written complaint on Saturday. In it, he asked for action against the teacher.
Atul Singh lives in Govind Nagari near the HN Singh intersection. He has two sons. The elder one is in Class 3, and the younger one is three years old. According to the family, the younger boy joined a nearby school in July.
Signs Something Was Wrong
The parents say their son had been crying every time he was asked to go to school. They did not understand why at first. Many young children cry when they start school, so the family did not immediately suspect anything serious.
That changed about four days ago. The school made a video call to the parents, and the child was seen crying and trembling. The teacher reportedly told them he was refusing to eat.
The father alleges that roti was forcibly pushed into his son’s mouth during this incident. After the call, the parents went to the school and took their son home.

What the Child Told His Mother
After he returned home, the boy told his mother, Salvi Singh, that the teacher had beaten him. She says she saw marks on his head that looked like scratches from fingernails.
Salvi also says her son has become very frightened since then. As soon as he hears the word “school,” he starts screaming.
The CCTV Footage
The next day, Atul Singh went to the school and watched the CCTV footage. CCTV cameras record video of what happens in a place, and they can serve as evidence. He claims the recordings showed the teacher slapping his son and scratching his head with her fingernails.
He then asked the principal for CCTV footage covering a full month. He says he wanted to check whether other incidents had happened. According to him, the principal became angry. He alleges the principal told him, in effect, to do whatever he wanted, and said he would not get anything from the school.
These statements are the family’s claims. The school’s side has not been included in the available report.
Concern for Other Children
The family has also alleged that the teacher hit other children at the school. The father says the matter is not limited to his own son, and he is worried about the safety of all the children studying there.
He has urged the police to take possession of the CCTV footage as soon as possible. He fears that evidence could be changed or deleted if action is delayed. This is a common worry in such cases, because video footage is often kept on a system that records over old files or can be erased.
What Police Say
Anjay Singh, the in-charge of Shahpur police station, said the matter is being investigated on the basis of the complaint. No arrest has been reported so far.
What Happens Next
A complaint is the first step in a police case. Police usually record statements from the family, collect evidence such as video recordings, and speak to the school staff before deciding on the next action. The teacher is only accused at this stage, and the allegations have not been proven in court.
Experts often advise parents to watch for changes in a young child’s behaviour. Sudden fear of going to school, crying, or trembling can be signs that something is wrong, though they can have other causes too. Children this young often cannot explain what happened, so adults need to listen carefully and stay calm when they do speak.
