Have a story that helps readers understand something important? We welcome focused pitches with a clear public-interest angle, a credible evidence base and a reason for publishing now.
What makes a strong pitch
- A working headline and a short explanation of the story.
- The new information, original reporting or informed perspective you will contribute.
- Sources you can access, documents you will examine and people you intend to interview.
- Your relevant experience, links to previous work and a realistic delivery date.
- Any financial, professional or personal relationship connected to the subject.
What we consider
Reported features, practical explainers, research-led analysis and informed commentary across our ten news sections. An opinion should be clearly argued and supported; a factual claim still needs evidence. Health, finance and legal subjects require appropriate expertise and careful sourcing.
Original work and image rights
Send original work you have the right to offer. Do not submit copied articles, fabricated interviews, invented quotations or undisclosed promotional material. Include the origin and permission for any proposed image. Editing a third-party image does not remove its copyright.
Use of AI tools
Disclose substantial use of generative tools in a pitch. You remain responsible for accuracy, sourcing and originality. Do not use automated rewriting to disguise copied reporting or claim experiences you did not have.
Before commissioning
A pitch is not a commission. Scope, fee if any, delivery dates, editing arrangements and publication rights must be agreed in writing before work begins. We do not sell guaranteed editorial backlinks or guarantee search rankings.
