The email, sent to a school in BKC, carries pro-Khalistan slogans. Police say its authenticity has not been verified.

Mumbai: Mumbai Police are investigating a threatening email that reportedly mentions the residence of veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan and singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. Police were alerted on Friday. The email was allegedly sent to a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area. Its authenticity has not been verified, and further details are awaited.

What the Email Allegedly Says

According to news agency IANS, the email named both Bachchan and Dosanjh and made specific claims about planned attacks. It mentioned Bachchan’s Mumbai home, Jalsa, and gave October 31 and November 27 as the dates of the alleged attacks.

Dosanjh was reportedly named in connection with a purported bomb attack at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27. The email suggested he may have been targeted as well, though the threat was not aimed at him directly.

Pro-Khalistan Slogans

The letter reportedly carried pro-Khalistan slogans. It blamed the threats on a group calling itself the “Khalistan National Army.” It also allegedly named several locations and timings, warning of a possible attack on the mayor’s office at 3 pm and on schools at 1 pm.

Neither the letter’s authenticity nor its claims have been independently verified. Threat emails are sometimes hoaxes, so police usually trace the sender and check the claims carefully before drawing any conclusion.

Diljit’s Mumbai Concert

A police officer pointed out that Dosanjh is due to perform at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on November 27 as part of his India tour. The officer added that Delhi Police had earlier held back permission for his Delhi concert, citing security concerns.

What Happened With the Delhi Concert

Delhi Police recently put on hold the permission for Dosanjh’s October 30 concert in the capital, citing security concerns. BookMyShow Live, the platform handling the show, said reports of a cancellation were wrong. In a statement, it said the permission was only temporarily withheld, which is not the same as a cancellation.

The company said that, because of the festive season and the need for stronger security, Delhi Police had asked for extra safety, traffic and crowd-management arrangements.

BookMyShow Live said it later met Delhi Police for a cordial discussion. It submitted a detailed plan and assured officials that all security and traffic guidelines would be followed. After these talks, the permission for the concert was reviewed and approved.

What Happens Next

Police have not said who sent the email or whether the threat is real. Investigators are expected to trace its source and examine its claims. Until then, nothing in the email should be treated as confirmed.
