Only one body found so far as police search for the rest

BENGALURU: It started with a missing-person complaint. It has now turned into one of the most shocking cases the city has seen in a long time.

A cab driver named Indushekhar has told Bengaluru police that he killed seven members of his own family. Among them were his wife and a seven-year-old boy. So far, police have found only the child’s body. The search for the other six is still going on.

Who the victims are

According to police, the people he says he killed are his wife, Sunitha, and her mother, Rupavathi. They also include her two brothers, Shivakumar and Shankar, and their wives, Divya and Nalini. The seventh victim is Puneeth, Shankar’s young son.

What police think happened

Police say their early investigation points to a terrible plan. Indushekhar allegedly killed his wife first. After that, he invited her brothers and their families over for a party. Officers believe the guests never left. He allegedly attacked them one by one at his home.

Police suspect he then loaded the bodies into his car and left them in different places. They also believe he used chemicals to clean the house and remove any marks that could point to the crime.

Why might he have done it?

Police say the reason may lie in a long-running problem at home. Indushekhar was reportedly angry that his wife stayed so close to her parents and brothers. Officers think this anger may have pushed him over the edge. Still, they admit that many questions remain unanswered.

How he was caught

The case began when someone reported people missing at the Srirampura Police Station. When officers spoke to Indushekhar, something did not feel right. His answers kept changing. Police kept asking questions, and in the end he allegedly admitted what he had done.

The first body is found

On Thursday, police searched the foothills of Nandi Hills for four hours. At the end of it, they found the body of Puneeth. He is the first victim to be found.

Teams are now checking other places for the remaining six. Police say it will take time. At the same time, they are trying to work out exactly what happened and in what order.

Police are not taking his word alone

Even though Indushekhar says he killed all seven people, police are being careful. They want proof for every claim he has made. That means finding the other bodies and studying the evidence before confirming the full story.

For now, Indushekhar is a suspect. The court will decide his fate after a proper legal process. Police have promised to share more information as the case moves forward.
